I've changed my oil twice currently on mine '07 nbs/5.3l. The owners hands-on states the oil capacity is 6qt. I took mine time pour it until it is full it climate let that run and also drain back in to the pan overnight before checking the dipstick. Once cold ~ sitting, 5.45qt's puts the oil level at the top of the cross hatch marks. This is v the oem PF48 filter. I additionally checked to make sure the emboldened stick tube is effectively seated in the block.

When i took delivery on the truck I confirm my oil and it was around 1/2 inch over the cross hatch marks.

Anyone else notice this?

You will never obtain all the oil the end of every engine through an oil change unless you disassemble it. The spec is a dry spec(if the engine never had oil in it).

You are watching: 2007 gmc yukon 5.3 oil capacity

I constantly use what the manual specifies. V 6 quarts, from the factory and after myself changing the oil, the level top top the dipstick is contempt high.

As much as oil additives go, ns recall the owner's hand-operated specifically advising versus using any additives at all.

It takes 6, but you do need to make sure you are lettign the oil drainpipe long sufficient time that it stops fast dripping, and also I would certainly say definitely make certain it is level or above to make sure oil drains prop=erly. Also, i noticed the oil filters perform make a difference as some room a small larger 보다 others. Mine Mobil 1 filter ns am using right currently was larger in diameter and length than the k & n one I supplied previously, for this reason mayby that could be a factor too.

There have been various other threads addressing this and you will see some wherein 6 qts filling it come the mark and also others where it is over the mark. On mine, 6 qts puts my level around 1/8" to 1/4" end the complete mark. This is on one 02 utilizing the much longer filter.

I did uncover some info not long earlier where GM mentioned 5.8 qts on details SUVs however only because that a pair of years. This was on an official GM literature website. Mine Owner's hand-operated states 6 qts together does every other spec you deserve to find.
