You are watching: 2005 ford mustang coolant temperature sensor location

The temp gauge on mine 2005 Ford Freestar fluctuates wildly at highway speeds. However when i look under the hood the engine does not seem to be overheating. I"ve already adjusted the thermostat and the same trouble exists. So i will try to change the temp sender, yet I"m no sure exactly how to accessibility it. Has anyone excellent this before? If therefore please write down a short step by step. (Did you have to remove the upper manifold or is over there an easier method to access it? If friend did have to remove, walk you likewise have come get new ring seals or were you able to reuse?)

Thanks because that the link Sterling_Six. It"s a 4.2L model. Regrettably the "component locations" attach doesn"t have actually that info yet. I visited Ford service and also asked where the ECT is located on mine model, and the diagram showed it at the rear side the the manifold. Castle would give no more info than that. (This location is deep in the engine compartment which is why ns was wonder if over there was any other means to access it as well as removing the upper manifold) I had a windstar before and also the ECT was right next to the thermostat housing like you said. But for the freestar it appears to it is in in a various place. And also I"m having actually so lot trouble finding any information online (free or pay) that gives an ext detail than simply "unhook from battery, unscrew old sensor, screw in new sensor, and also rehook to battery" but none ever say where the darn thing is located and how to gain to it. Thanks again Sterling for her response. I"ll keep an eye out on autozone.
